Home Flooring: know more about the different options!

If we are decided to change the floors in our house, the several choices can be a source of conflict since the great variety of options and types of flooring such as materials, textures and designs are quite wide. Also an important aspect in selecting the floor to be installed in our home, is that we look at the texture of it, since it needs to adapt to the conditions of the region where our home is located. Remember that while in warmer climates, the floors should be fairly lightweight, while the cold climate regions deserve much harder floors and solid.

Types of Floors:

Below we have provided a summary of the different kinds of floors, their main characteristics and applications.

Granite and Marble:
If the most important is the resistance, the granite and marble are in first place with a very high initial cost but with minimal maintenance costs, there are a variety of sizes and colors with endless combination possibilities. The just granite tiles are next in strength, at a price that in some cases may be half of the above.

The Porcelain clays are combinations of high temperature cook up in a single mass. This process sets them apart from traditional ceramics of great strength, but lose brightness when the use is very intense. That's why the porcelain more than likely comes in semi matte finishes.

The limestone tiles are a very accessible option that comes with smooth finishes, others with slate imitations (Pavimenti type), others stamped with various designs.

The ceramics are rated for various uses and may need to be evaluated what is best for each case.

Cement floors, with different finishes can be from simple smoothed in different colors with the addition of special products like colors, to the cement floors patterns from a given mold texture, color and strength desired can be achieved easily, achieving a uniform and monolithic finish which gives a similar benefit to any stone material at a cost slightly lower than the others. They also serve as outdoor specialty products, holding their color and good lasting conditions.

Wood floors are those that offer greater warmth by the nature of the material used, is warm in winter and cool in summer, its poor acoustics make it a soft cushion of sound. You can also put hardwood floors on the outside, and there are actually a lot of assembly low priced decks that would give very good results.

The Stone: Exterior floors of stone materials can be used as paving stones or porphyry, since they have excellent weather resistance and are of unlimited duration. Also on the exteriors, for the sun and pool edges we highly recommend the athermal stone tiles.
